Long before Lina Seybold became a geologist, the singer and guitarist was already writing songs and making a name for herself with her Steve Albini-trained (and produced) quartet candelilla. During her studies, she met Moritz Gamperl and the two realised that what they learned in rock research could also play a role in rock music. Thus, the material history of the planet became both a source of existential reflections for the two and the impetus for a highly accomplished and often graceful sound. With »Lamina«, the trio now presents an excellent debut album, which shoots out of the earth with explosive force as hot lava.
